In today’s tutorial we’ll take a quick look at our Mac version.

With the current version of Sticky Password for Mac, you may have noticed something new in the menu bar (beginning with Build rev489) – the Sticky Password icon. This is the Sticky Password Agent.

The Sticky Password Agent is a component that allows Sticky Password to work with your browser extensions even when the main application window is closed, so it’s not necessary to keep the main window open while working in your browser and still be able to take advantage of autofill. Attention: this means that if you close the main window, Sticky Password will remain unlocked and running until Autolock kicks in. And that brings us to the topic of today’s tutorial.

I’ve had a few requests about the Autolock feature. As you’ll see, it’s easy to set up just the way you want it. Autolock locks Sticky Password when your Mac has been inactive for a set amount of time. This is a useful security feature especially if you use your Mac or MacBook anywhere where there are other people, like at work, or your dorm room – even your living room!

Click Sticky Password in the menu bar, and select Preferences… in the dropdown menu.

Click the Security tab.

The default option for Autolock is 30 minutes. You can change this by clicking the arrow next to the field. Sticky Password will lock after the set amount of time of inactivity on your Mac. Note that while there is a Never option, this setting is not recommended because it lowers the security of your password database when you are away from your Mac.

When you’re getting up to leave your computer and need to lock Sticky Password immediately,

EITHER go to the Sticky Password application menu in the menu bar and select Lock in the dropdown menu,

OR you can also find the Sticky Password icon located in the upper right corner of the menu bar and select Lock.

PS Don’t forget to lock your computer before leaving.
